Laryngeal Video EndoStroboscopy

We take pride in using state-of-the-art technology for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Our advanced diagnostic technique, Laryngeal Video EndoStroboscopy, provides a fascinating view of your vocal cords and their movement. By using a flashing light, we create a slow-motion visual of your vocal cords, allowing us to spot any irregularities, lesions, or masses that may be affecting your voice. As a result, this valuable information helps us plan personalized and effective treatment strategies that get you feeling back to yourself quickly.

Vocal Diagnosis FAQs

During a Laryngeal Video EndoStroboscopy, our voice therapist will gently insert a small flexible scope through your nose or mouth to get a closer look at your larynx while it’s in action. It’s like having a telescopic view of your vocal cords! We’ll capture videos and pictures that we can review together after the session. Don’t worry–we can apply a numbing agent to ensure your comfort if you need it. Most people find this procedure quite tolerable, with minimal discomfort.

Once the strobe exam is complete, the speech-language pathologist will review the results with you. Together, we’ll develop a personalized plan of care that may involve voice therapy, medication, referrals, or even surgery if needed. We’ll also send a detailed report to your referring physician. Before you leave our clinic, you’ll clearly understand the next steps and what we can do to help.

There’s no special preparation needed for this appointment. You can eat and drink normally before your appointment, and there’s no sedation involved, so you won’t require someone to drive you. Just come as you are, and we’ll take care of everything during the exam. We want you to feel comfortable and at ease throughout the process.
